About Racial Justice & Healing Ministry

Our Purpose:

This ministry was formed to bring energy, focus, education and action to the area of racial justice in response to Foothills' Bold Vision statement #5 and the 8th UU Principle that call us to:

  • “Dismantle prejudice and oppression in all their forms” (FUC Bold Vision)
  • Work “toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.” (8th UU Principle)
If this purpose resonates with you, please join this group using the "Request to join" button to stay up-to-date on all things racial justice within the congregation and beyond.

Update as of January 2023: Leadership for this group is currently in transition. As we move into the next phase of our work, which will involve discernment about how to effectively implement the 8th principle as well as collaboration with the Climate Justice team to work towards Green Sanctuary certification, we will keep this group open to periodically send information regarding opportunities within the congregation and local community for racial justice contributions.  If you are deeply committed to this work, and find yourself drawn to creative leadership in this area, we encourage you to reach out to Rev. Gretchen (gretchen@foothillsuu.org) to let her know you are interested.
